So my 13 year old brother is special needs and is best friends at the high school with this senior girl named Cortney. The other day her dad died in a really bad car wreck and my mom wants to send flowers to her and the funeral because shes a reallyyyyy nice girl and because she thinks she should because its Austins (my brother) best friend. But she doesnt know what kind of flower is appropriate for a teenage girl whose dad just died. Roses are too romantic and daisies are too sunshine-y.
So what kind of flower should she send?
my dad died when i was little, i was only 9 at the time tho. i think i would love orchards http://media.growsonyou.com/photos/question/image/4882/main/flowers_004.jpg

Lilies.

Go to like publix or local grocery store/flower shop and tell them you need an arrangement for a funeral. My father died when I was 18, while flowers were appreciated nothing anybody did made me feel better. Some people take comfort in home cooked food. That may be better than flowers.

Gerber daisies. They are a whimsical flower that might make her remember the happy times she had with her father and appreciate the time she had with him.

In france, they send white chrysanthemums. They’re beautiful, and really symbolic.
References :
Tulips. They are the perfect flower. Or you could take a bunch of roses, paint them black, and give them to her. Wala! Perfect bunch of black roses!

Lilies
Don’t give her daisies, if she’s smart she’ll know that daises are the flowers of death

I was 12 years old, and in 6th grade when my dad died… so what the students did with me is they each made me a card at school saying they were sorry to hear bout my dad, and the teacher sent a group card with everyones name on it… my dad had lung cancer and we knew he was going to die.. As for your friend, not real sure what type of flowers would be the best… I am sure they have websites on flower arrangements for funerals.. you can always have them put in a sign that says" To my best friend, sorry for your loss"
