after they get a good drink, take them out of the water, spritz lightly, wrap the cut ends in wet paper towels, wrap a bundle of them in tissue paper,(the way they do roses!) and put them in a Igloo cooler.... if you can work a way to keep them in water for the trip, by ends in little baby food jars or somehow, even better.... cool is the trick... florists keep their flowers in big fridge coolers, and this keeps them perfect!... so getcha one of those blue ice chiller thingies and put it in there too, but where nothing will touch it.....

when you get there, another spritz, cut the stems again, under water, and arrange in your vases....

I would not use this method on very 'tropical' blooms like hibiscus.... they don't like chilling, not at all!!....
References :
Add an aspirin to each base and wrap every bunch in a sheet of newspaper shaped like a cone where your flowers tops are barely out of the papers lid. And don't expose them to the sun.
References :
Flower arrangement is one of my interest.

Morning is the best time to cut flowers. Keep them in water. Don't let some of them sit around waiting for the other little flowers to be cut. Take a bucket of water with you when you're cutting and put them it in right away. The second that you cut those flowers they start sucking air through their stems so it might also be a good idea to cut them a little long, put them in water and take them inside and cut off another inch of stem while they are underwater in your sink. the less exposure that the stems have to air the better they will survive. and of course, don't let them get to hot during the drive.
