Why does my rose bush have no flowers?

Climbing rose – about 3 years old

Have you been pruning it? The buds will grow on this year’s growth so it is possible that if you pruned it too late you have got rid of the forming buds. Pruning is best done after flowering but not if frost is likely – in that case leave it until early to mid spring.
Roses are very sturdy though so it is more than likely that it will be putting on more growth at the moment and will try to flower from that a little later in the season.
Give it a good feed (Rose feed encourage flower growth – so that will help too)

I want something vine-like with flowers to wind around some columns or a trellis arch; flower petals down the aisle, and a few floral arrangements on the side of the rows (every other, every third row?)

Also, how tacky would it be to have silk flower petals and silk floral vine for the columns or arch? And real flowers for the rows?

I think that your idea is great.

Can I attach silk flowers to fabric using fusible web?

I have a Christmas sweatshirt with silk poinsettas fused onto it but can’t figure out how it was done.
How is this done if using the fusible web without getting it all over the iron?

You may want to use a product called Heat and Bond, sold at fabric stores. This product is a breeze to use. First, you iron this product onto the fabric, then cut out your shape, then iron that shape onto the garment. It really is as easy as that.

Heat and Bond comes in several weights, so be sure you select the correct weight and follow the directions. You will be amazed at the results and it is totally washable, too.

I work in an office, and there is this one girl who always gets the most enormous boquets of flowers "just because". She always makes a big to-do about it making sure everyone sees it and tells them it is from her "boyfriend". Do you think there are SOME girls who actually order the flowers and send to themselves? Me and some of my coworkers have our suspicions.

I know there are wholesale dealers for the florists, but what about those of us who are just normal people. Where can I get loose fresh cut flowers (not in a bouquet) and not pay pre-arranged arrangement prices?

Sorry I am not familiar with specific flower shops in the Boston area, but what you are looking for is a Flower Market. They are a lot cheaper and they sell flowers individually so you can make your own bouquets or whatever. Try to search for flower markets in boston.

My boyfriend lives a long way away, I want to do something sweet for him today, he has been having a bad day. Would it be strange to send him flowers, or do men appreciate them? What other ideas do you have?

Some guys do, but others like mine find it a useless waste of cash. If he’s a romantic guy who likes gifts and little tidbits that remind his space of you, then he may enjoy the flowers. But if he’s a practical guy who doesn’t really care for presents unless he chose it himself and he could use it, then sending him flowers might become a disappointing experience.

If I were you, I’d be more likely to send him a nice parcel with stuff he could use. Get a nice basket (or box) and fill it with a smiley face mug, box of hot chocolate sachets, toaster tarts, food bars, instant ramen, and a cute framed couple photo. You can easily pick these up as you do the groceries! That would light up the day of most guys even when they’re not a giftsy person, and definitely has a greater chance of success than flowers.

Your man must be lucky to have such a thoughtful girlfriend like you.

homecoming dance is tomorrow & my son, at the last minute needs me to special order green tipped white roses for his girl. Is it rude for me to ask the florist, who is the only one in town, to get this together for me?

It isn’t rude to ask, but they might not be able to accommodate you. I’d imagine most of the other kids in town ordered their flowers through this florist, also. Just don’t get your hopes up.
