i am going to get married in turkey however i want to bring my bouquet from here and i just wanted to know what silk flowers are and how long do they last and if it is ideal to use as a wedding bouquet?

Silk flowers are an extremely realistic alternative to real flowers. They look much better that the generic cloth flowers you find at low cost stores. They are perfect for weddings and boquets because they will definitely last a lifetime. Make sure that you keep them in a clean, dry place and they will never fade or decay.

I want to know how many 1 1/2 inch silk flowers i can make with 1 yard of fabric, and how many for 3 inch flowers? How much fabric would i need to cutt
yes 1/ 1/2 would be the finished sized and it is layers. i think the other would be 3 inch diameter

Depends on the width of the fabric and what kind of flowers you are making. Is it just a flat disc or is it 3-D with layers? Is 1 1/2 and 3 the finished sizes?

what is the difference between silk and true touch wedding flowers?

I am getting married in December and was wonder should I use Real flowers, ‘True touch’ flowers, or silk flowers? What is the difference between silk and ‘true’ touch?

I was married this past March. I used all fake flowers. The "true touch" flowers look and feel like real flowers, but they are a little bit more expensive then the silk flowers. I made all my bouquets, mine was true to touch, because I wanted it to look real, my bridesmaids were just plain silk because they were a bit cheaper to get made. I like the artificial flowers better than the real, only because you can keep them forever. However, you could always have a real flower worked into your bouquet so you can press it or preserve it. I am planning my wedding for Oct. I am on a tight budget and am looking into getting silk flowers. Also my husband to-be & my 2 year old son have terrible allergies. Is it considered cheap or tacky?
Also what are some good website to take a look at?

That is reason enough right there to use silks. I don’t think it is tacky at all . . . but even if others do, don’t worry about what others think of it. The health of your groom and your son takes precedence.

Would live flowers or silk flowers be best for cemetery decoration?

My daughter passed away in September. Each year in June our church has "decoration" where everyone decorates family members graves. This is all new to me and I want to get something really pretty for my sweet angel. Would live flowers or silk flowers be best?

What did your daughter like? What feels right to you?
Silk flowers would last a lot longer and stand up to damage better but you can never replicate the beauty of a real flower.

Can I put silk flowers in an aquarium?

I’m setting up my first aquarium. I didn’t find a tall plant I liked, I was wondering if a stalk of silk flowers (like the craft ones from walmart) could be used in the tank instead of the ones specifically for an aquarium?

I wouldn’t use it… the dyes aren’t meant for water, and you never know if the glue or bonders, or dyes used coudl leach into the water and poison your fish. To be on the safe side, just stick the plants made for aquariums

I am revamping my bachelor pad. I travel a lot. Are silk flowers considered tacky or cheap?

I don’t want plants or flowers because I travel and they would die but I fancy a splash of color ie a spray of silk poppies in an over-sized clear glass vase

They make really realistic fake flowers now. Even florists sell good fakes for people who entertain and don’t want guests to know they’re not real. When you look at them, think "Would I know this isn’t real?" Then if it looks real enough for you, go for it. If you really want to fool guests, get a little spritz bottle of the scent of the flowers and before people come over give it a spray. That way when someone tries to smell them, they will smell real too.

Which glue will stick silk flowers to a woven straw hat?

I purchased and wasted money on (fabric glue, tacky glue and rhinestone gem glue) and any of the 3 attached the flowers to the hat, really these glues just made a mess and stained the flower and the hat. Which glue can I buy from the local craft shop that will stick silk flowers firmly to woven straw type hats. Thank you-

kay is right, I sewed, with needle and thread, the flowers to the hat. I just sewed through the flower, through the straw open places, around the straw, and back into the flower several times.
I have also used the sew the flower to ribbon and then sew the ribbon to the hat method.
I have hot glued ribbon to the hat, but it does not let you make the ribbon flush with the hat, you can see the hot glue.
I did consider lining the hat to cover up the stitches, but since it was for a doll, I did not.
Fabric is very hard to glue, either the glue soaks up into the material and changes its color, or it makes it stiff and hard. And still, it might not stick. I used Sobo on a Barbie dress hem, the material was organza, and it raveled. I intended to sew ribbon over the hem. the Sobo held the hem, and allowed me to sew the ribbon.

Where can I find NEON silk flowers?

I am getting married and our theme we decided to go with is neon colors and blacklights at the reception. However, i’m having a really hard time finding bright yellow, pink, blue, purple, green and orange silk flowers. I’m making the bouquets myself and also wanting to decorate with neon colored flowers around the reception. Any ideas?

p.s. I thought about white flowers then using neon colored fabric to wrap the stems. Good idea?
